Softball Game Preview: Kennedy Eagles vs. Roosevelt Teddies

The Kennedy Eagles will face off against the Roosevelt Teddies at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Roosevelt took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Kennedy, who comes in off a win.

Kennedy is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Tuesday. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over Richfield. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Emma Skibbie spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Audrey Skibbie, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Sasha Nicholson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Roosevelt had to start their season on the road on Tuesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of Robbinsdale Cooper.

Brooklyn Erickson and Sydney Erickson stepped up to the plate in a big way. Brooklyn scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-4, while Sydney scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Mary Luhmann, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Kennedy took their victory against Roosevelt in their previous matchup back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 15-0 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Teddies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
