Basketball Game Preview: Speedway Sparkplugs vs. Beech Grove Hornets

Speedway is 1-9 against Beech Grove since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Sparkplugs are taking a road trip to take on the Hornets at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Speedway took a loss when they played away from home last Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 79-71 victory over Western Boone. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Meanwhile, Beech Grove was able to grind out a solid win over Perry Meridian on Tuesday, taking the game 62-54. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

The win got Speedway back to even at 1-1. As for Beech Grove, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Speedway couldn't quite get it done against Beech Grove in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 as they fell 61-52. Can the Sparkplugs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
