Basketball Game Preview: Tampa Prep Terrapins vs. Cypress Creek Coyotes

Tampa Prep is 4-0 against Cypress Creek since January of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Tampa Prep Terrapins will host the Cypress Creek Coyotes at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Tampa Prep has 13 straight wins, Cypress Creek has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Monday, Tampa Prep didn't have too much trouble with Gaither as they won 65-48. Given the Terrapins' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 61st, while the Cowboys are ranked 257th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Tampa Prep to victory, but perhaps none more so than J'London Bivens, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 boards. Bivens is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Myheir Session was another key player, going 6 of 11 on his way to 20 points and seven rebounds.

Tampa Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 12 consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Cypress Creek played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Fivay 87-55. The Coyotes were down 64-40 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Tampa Prep's victory was their 13th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-1. As for Cypress Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 7-12.

Everything came up roses for Tampa Prep against Cypress Creek in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, as the squad secured a 60-25 win. In that contest, Tampa Prep amassed a halftime lead of 46-15, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
