Baseball Recap: Randolph Southern Takes a Loss

Randolph Southern extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 3-18 in the process. They came up short against the Blue River Valley Vikings, falling 10-0. That's two games in a row now that the Rebels have lost by exactly ten runs.

As for Blue River Valley, their win bumped their record up to 11-7. That ten run margin sets a new team best for them this season.

For Blue River Valley's part, EVAN ZENTZ was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. ZENTZ also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Blue River Valley is 7-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 4-5 otherwise. ZENTZ was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on EVAN BLACKBURN, who went 4-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Jhonny HOWE was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Randolph Southern and Blue River Valley are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Rebels will challenge Seton Catholic at 12:00 p.m. on the 31st. As for Blue River Valley, they will be playing at home against Wapahani at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
