Baseball Recap: Coopersville Makes It Eight in a Row at Home

There's no place like home for Coopersville, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 12-5 margin over the Comstock Park Panthers on Saturday. The victory continues a trend for the Broncos in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won seven in a row.

Drew Duthler was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two doubles and one RBI. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Jayden Timmons and Ethan Holzgen did most of the damage at the plate: Timmons got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Holzgen went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The dominant performance also gave Timmons a new career-high in hits (two). Beau Harris was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Coopersville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Coopersville pushed their record up to 22-5-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Comstock Park, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-11 record this season.
