Independence had to endure a six-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 30-28 win over the Denison Yellow Jackets on Friday.

Logan Murindagomo went supernova for Independence, rushing for 114 yards and three touchdowns, while also throwing for 80 yards and a touchdown. The dominant performance gave Murindagomo a new career-high in rushing yards.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Independence's defense and their five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Gianni Giacoman and Tyler Humphrey who racked up all five sacks between them. Giacoman is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made six or more in the last eight games he's played dating back to last season.

Despite the defeat, Denison had strong showings from Ty Rhodes, who threw for 154 yards and two touchdowns, and Brandon Douglas, who picked up 69 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
