Softball Game Preview: Hanna Golden Eagles vs. Donna Redskins

The Hanna Golden Eagles will take on the Donna Redskins in a tournament on Friday.

Hanna's tournament run continued when they took on Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial on Thursday. Hanna came up short against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial, falling 17-4.

Kaitlyn Flores was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2. What's more, she also racked up two hits, the most she's had since back in March of 2024.

Meanwhile, Donna earned a 9-5 win over Corpus Christi Moody on Thursday.

Camila Oviedo was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Oviedo was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Nayeli Gonzalez and Jackie Rodriguez did most of the damage at the plate: Gonzalez scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2, while Rodriguez scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Donna's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Hanna, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Hanna was able to grind out a solid win over Donna in their previous matchup on Friday, winning 8-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hanna since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
