Soccer Game Preview: Picayune vs. George County

The Picayune Maroon Tide will square off against the George County Rebels on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Picayune sitting on four straight victories and George County on 13.

Picayune is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They never let Long Beach onto the board and left with a 3-0 win. Give the Maroon Tide's defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last game, George County made sure to put some goals up on the board against Terry on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 8-0 victory. The contest marked the Rebels' most dominant win of the season.

Picayune has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a massive bump to their 10-5-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 35 goals over those eight games. As for George County, their victory bumped their record up to 16-4.

Picayune skirted past George County 3-2 in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Picayune since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
