Basketball Game Preview: Stayton Eagles vs. Newport Cubs

Stayton is 8-2 against Newport since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Stayton Eagles will host the Newport Cubs at 5:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Stayton was handed a heart-breaking two-point defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Sweet Home on Friday. Stayton took their contest with ease, bagging a 65-31 victory over Sweet Home. That 34 point margin sets a new team best for the Eagles this season.

Meanwhile, Newport was able to grind out a solid win over North Marion on Tuesday, taking the game 72-62.

Stayton's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-8. As for Newport, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.
