Softball Recap: West Chargers vs. Great Bend Panthers

West had lost five straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 9-18 to make it six. They lost 11-1 to the Great Bend Panthers. Having soared to a lofty 20 runs in the game before, the Chargers couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Great Bend, the win was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 24-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 19 games by six runs or more this season.

For Great Bend's part, Chayla Prendergast made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Prendergast has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Kya Behr and Katherine Mazouch did most of the damage at the plate: Behr went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Mazouch went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Mazouch continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Camdyn Post, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

West does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Great Bend, they have already played their next matchup, a 13-3 victory against Valley Center on the 20th.
