Football Game Preview: Coleman Comets vs. Montabella Mustangs + How To Watch

Coleman is 1-8 against Montabella since October of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Comets will welcome the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Coleman has given up an average of 32 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Coleman's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against St. Patrick on Saturday. They were beaten by the Shamrocks 56-0. Having soared to a lofty 34 points in the game before, the Comets' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, Montabella put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 54-18 win over Breckenridge. Fans of the Mustangs have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Montabella's win came from a few key players Coleman will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Brady Kieff, who rushed for 151 yards and one TD while picking up 8.9 yards per carry, and also picked up 55 receiving yards. He was no stranger to the big play, connecting on a big catch that went for 55 yards. Another player making a difference was Austin Jensen, who gained 121 total yards and two touchdowns.

Montabella was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 297 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 281 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Montabella's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Coleman, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Coleman was dealt a bruising 42-12 loss at the hands of Montabella in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Comets were down 22-0.
