Baseball Recap: Daniel Boone Takes a Loss

Daniel Boone started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Cedar Crest. They fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 4-3 on Thursday.

Anthony Manogue was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Daniel Boone saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Pence, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Daniel Boone's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Cedar Crest, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Daniel Boone will challenge Reading at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Red KNights have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.42 runs per game on average), something the Blazers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Cedar Crest, they will take on Penn Manor at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
