Basketball Game Preview: Overhills Jaguars vs. North Pitt Panthers

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Overhills Jaguars take on the North Pitt Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday... Overhills is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60 points per game this season.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Overhills turned things around against Western Harnett on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Eagles 67-34. The Jaguars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 24 points or more this season.

Najiha Allen was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 13 boards. Those 13 boards gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Paris Autry, who went 9 of 14 on her way to 21 points and four steals.

Meanwhile, North Pitt didn't have quite enough to beat Greene Central on Friday and fell 49-46.

Overhills will have to contain Zihanna Lightfoot as she made an impact in North Pitt's last game. She dropped a double-double on 30 points and 17 rebounds. With that strong performance, Lightfoot is now averaging an impressive 15.3 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja'Nautica Spruill, who posted eight points in addition to eight assists and three steals.

Overhills' victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-5. As for North Pitt, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
