It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Masconomet Regional ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over the Wilmington Wildcats. This was payback for the Chieftains, who suffered a 6-3 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Sydnee Vocino spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits.

On the hitting side, Ally Kelter and Logan Schaap did most of the damage at the plate: Kelter went 3-for-5 with one triple, while Schaap went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Angie Vecchio, who went 2-for-5 with one run and one RBI.
