It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Allen had no problem doing just that on Friday. They snuck past the Woodland Cougars with a 31-26 victory. The win was familiar territory for the Mustangs, who have now won seven games in a row.
Quintin Box was his usual excellent self, rushing for 55 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 190 yards and a pair of TDs on only 16 passes. Those 190 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Brax Wofford was Box's top target, picking up 69 receiving yards and one score, while also punching in one rushing score.
Allen's victory bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Woodland, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-5.
Coming up, Allen will head out on the road to take on Southwest Covenant at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Woodland does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
