Soccer Game Preview: Woodbridge vs. Freedom

The Woodbridge Vikings will face off against the Freedom Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Woodbridge is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Forest Park just ended the team's seven-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Bruins by a score of 2-1. The matchup was a 1-1 toss-up at halftime, but Woodbridge couldn't quite close it out.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Freedom's offense. They lost 5-0 to Charles J. Colgan on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Freedom can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 181st, while Charles J. Colgan are ranked 49th).

Woodbridge's loss dropped their record down to 12-3-1. As for Freedom, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-6-1.

Everything went Woodbridge's way against Freedom when the teams last played on May 1st, as Woodbridge made off with a 5-0 victory. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
