Baseball Preview: Girard Indians vs. Harding Raiders

The Girard Indians will head out on the road to take on the Harding Raiders at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Things were looking good for Girard after they put the first points on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Lakeview by a score of 7-6.

Joe Marsco was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Will Hynes, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Harding has not done well against Howland recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Harding came out on top against Howland by a score of 3-2 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game).

Khalef Freeman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits.

On the hitting side, Harding's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Michael Tsilimos, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Girard now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Harding, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

Girard was able to grind out a solid victory over Harding when the teams last played back in April of 2023, winning 7-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for Girard since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
