Hammond Morton has gone a perfect 10-0 against East Chicago Central recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Governors will look to defend their home field against the Cardinals at 5:00 p.m. Hammond Morton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12 runs per game this season.

Hammond Morton will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Thornton Fractional South on Saturday. The Governors put the hurt on the Red Wolves with a sharp 20-10 victory. Considering the Governors have won three matchups by more than nine runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Analiya Feliciano, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, three stolen bases, and five runs. Another player making a difference was Juleeana Temores, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with five stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Hammond Morton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, East Chicago Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 14th straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Washington Township, falling 15-1.

Hammond Morton now has a winning record of 3-2. As for East Chicago Central, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Everything went Hammond Morton's way against East Chicago Central in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Hammond Morton made off with a 17-2 win. Will the Governors repeat their success, or do the Cardinals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
