Baseball Recap: Wiggins Comes Up Short

Wiggins had lost four straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 7-7 to make it five. They fell just short of the Yuma Outlaws by a score of 12-11. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Outlaws apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Isaac Flores was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Wiggins' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-2 (and 2-5 when he doesn't). Cash Pape also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

As for Yuma, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-3. That's two games straight that they have won by just one run.

On Yuma's side, the team relied heavily on Lennox Huwa, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Jesus Rodriguez, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Wiggins beat Yuma by a score of 13-8 later that day.
