Baseball Game Preview: Oakwood Owls vs. Saugus Centurions

The Oakwood Owls will head out to challenge the Saugus Centurions at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Oakwood is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs on Thursday, they were much more limited against La Canada on Friday. They lost 12-0 to the Spartans. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Owls were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Saugus didn't have quite enough to beat Muir on Tuesday and fell 4-3.

Ming Lee was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Matt Long made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Abraham Ramirez, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.

Saugus dropped their record down to 11-7 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Oakwood, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-2.
