Softball Recap: Wilson Victorious

Wilson won the last time they faced Russellville and things went their way on Monday too. The Warriors came out on top against the Golden Tigers by a score of 6-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.

Peyton May spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Bugg Watkins, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Olivia Poarch, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4.

Wilson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Wilson's victory bumped their record up to 16-13. As for Russellville, their loss was their tenth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-20.

Looking ahead, Wilson will head out on the road to challenge Lauderdale County at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Russellville, they will square off against West Morgan at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
