Basketball Recap: Steelville Takes a Loss

Steelville was the 41-25 winner over Viburnum when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Steelville Cardinals took a 57-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Viburnum Blue Jays on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 376th, while the Blue Jays are ranked 165th).

Steelville's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-10. As for Viburnum, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Steelville will square off against Pacific at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Viburnum, they will challenge St. Clair at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
