Recap: Riverbend Bears vs. Brooke Point Black Hawks
In what's become a running theme this season, the Riverbend Bears gave their fans yet another huge win on Monday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 65-29 win over Brooke Point. Winning may never get old, but Riverbend sure is getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Maniyah Alston was her usual excellent self, scoring 30 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Olivia Long, who scored two points along with nine rebounds and eight assists.
Despite the defeat, Brooke Point saw an underclassman step up: Chloe Williams scored 11 points. Williams is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Anaya Nation, who scored six points.
Riverbend has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. As for Brooke Point, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-14.
Riverbend will head out on the road to take on Massaponax at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Massaponax is on a seven-game streak of home wins, Riverbend a nine-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Brooke Point, they will head out on the road to challenge North Stafford at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
