Baseball Game Preview: Platte County Pirates vs. Van Horn Falcons

The Platte County Pirates will square off against the Van Horn Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Platte County will be strutting in after a win while Van Horn will be coming in after a loss.

Platte County is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Ruskin 25-3 on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won 11 matches by nine runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Van Horn was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-6 heartbreaker at the hands of Raytown. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Falcons have suffered since April 7th.

Platte County pushed their record up to 24-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Van Horn, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-16.

Everything went Platte County's way against Van Horn in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Platte County made off with a 13-0 victory. Will the Pirates repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
