Baseball Recap: Bellaire Takes a Loss

Bellaire and St. Mary Cathedral pushed the score to 12-8 the last time they played St. Mary Cathedral, but on Friday defenses reigned supreme. The Eagles fell 3-0 to the Snowbirds. The game marked the first time this year in which the Eagles were not able to get on the board.

Colin Bearup spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 14 Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bellaire saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aidan Balko, who went 1-for-2 with one double. That double marked the first that Balko has hit this season.

Bellaire suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 7-3-1. As for St. Mary Cathedral, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bellaire will face off against East Jordan at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for St. Mary Cathedral, they will challenge Ellsworth at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
