Softball Recap: Four Straight Road Wins for Manawa

Manawa won the last time they faced Iola-Scandinavia and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Wolves came out on top against the Thunderbirds by a score of 7-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wolves.

Olivia Zielke spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Bre Bonikowske was excellent, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3. She also put up an RBI, which was her first of the season. Lexi Ferg was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Bonikowske wasn't the only one making solid contact: Manawa kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Iola-Scandinavia only managed five hits.

Manawa's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Iola-Scandinavia, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Looking ahead, Manawa will venture away from home to take on Wittenberg-Birnamwood at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Iola-Scandinavia, they will welcome Nekoosa at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
