Basketball Recap: Eau Claire's Loss Ends Six-Game Winning Streak on the Road

If Eau Claire was feeling good fresh off their 69-24 takedown of Chester last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Eau Claire Shamrocks fell to the Fairfield Central Griffins 53-49. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Shamrocks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 40-35 on January 14th.

Eau Claire's loss on Thursday came despite strong showings from Gregory Williams and AJ Garner. Williams posted 19 points along with six assists and four steals, while Garner had 17 points in addition to five boards and four steals. What's more, Williams also racked up four rebounds, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. Manny Davis was another key player, putting up five points and three steals.

Fairfield Central's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kamauri Jones, who earned 15 points. Jones continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Khaleb Feaster, who put up 13 points and seven boards.

Eau Claire's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-4. As for Fairfield Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eau Claire has already played their next contest (against Mid-Carolina), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Fairfield Central has also has no score uploaded for their next game, this one against Columbia.
