Softball Recap: Fort Worth Country Day's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Six

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Fort Worth Country Day ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-9 victory over the Dallas HSAA Red Blue Angels. Winning may never get old, but the Falcons sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

Madeline Richey was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 12 batters over nine innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two doubles. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Taylor Higgins was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Alexis Barriger was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Fort Worth Country Day pushed their record up to 10-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Dallas HSAA Red, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fort Worth Country Day will head out to square off against Oakridge at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Dallas HSAA Red, they will face off against Parish Episcopal at 6:00 p.m. on the 25th.
