Volleyball Recap: Clinton Takes a Loss

Clinton was the 3-0 winner over Evansville when they last played one another back in September, but their luck changed this time around. The Cougars fell 3-1 to the Blue Devils on Thursday. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

The 3-1 doesn't really show just how close this match was: all the sets Clinton lost were decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 26-24, 19-25, 25-23.

Macy Hinz paced Clinton's offense, picking up 20 kills. Hinz got some help from Maryn Waite and her 13 assists. Hinz was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Grace Hoverson had a dynamite game For Evansville., getting 16 kills, seven digs, five blocks, and three aces. That's the most kills Hoverson has posted since back in September. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna Burkhalter, who had eight kills and three digs.

Clinton's loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Evansville, their record is now 5-10.

Clinton has already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Monroe on the 6th. As for Evansville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Edgerton on the 7th.
