Baseball Recap: East Carteret Mariners vs. Northside - Pinetown Panthers
East Carteret barely beat Northside - Pinetown the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Mariners never let the Panthers get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory on Friday. Considering the Mariners have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Lukas Styron looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Eli Jenkins was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. He has been hot recently, having posted three or more stolen bases the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Roberson, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
East Carteret was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northside - Pinetown only posted a batting average of .095.

The win keeps East Carteret at an undefeated 16-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average this season.
