Basketball Recap: Chavez Comes Up Short

Chavez was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They were dealt a 118-11 defeat at the hands of the Grant Lancers. The contest marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Leading Grant to victory were RONALD MERRILL and ANDREW BERRY. MERRILL went 9 for 10 on his way to 21 points and seven steals, while BERRY dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten assists. The dominant performance gave BERRY a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of NOAH LETT, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.

Chavez's loss dropped their record down to 0-7.

Chavez will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on North Hollywood at 7:00 p.m. on January 10, 2025. Grant and Viewpoint will compete for holiday cheer at 3:30 p.m. on December 20th.
