Softball Recap: Elkmont Takes a Loss

Elkmont lost against Westminster Christian Academy back in April of 2018, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Elkmont fell just short of Westminster Christian Academy by a score of 4-2. That's two games in a row now that the Red Devils have lost by exactly two runs.

Nyla Parker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on nine hits and racked up 11 Ks. Those 11 strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

At the plate, Elkmont saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Avery Harwell, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Elkmont and nudges their season record down to 8-6. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only two runs. As for Westminster Christian Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elkmont will host Brewer at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. We've got a battle between Wildcats coming up.
