Baseball Game Preview: Apex Cougars vs. Cary Imps

Apex has gone 8-2 against Cary recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Cougars will look to defend their home field against the Imps at 6:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

On Monday, Apex didn't have quite enough to beat Green Hope and fell 10-9. The Cougars have struggled against the Falcons recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

ADRIAN GONZALEZ and JAY HALE stepped up to the plate in a big way. GONZALEZ went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while HALE went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. GONZALEZ has become a key player for Apex: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least one home run, but 10-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was JAYDEN TROFATTER, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.

Meanwhile, Cary came up short against Holly Springs on Wednesday and fell 8-3.

Cary saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Mohler, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one double.

Cary's defeat dropped their record down to 6-16. As for Apex, their loss dropped their record down to 12-12.

Apex skirted past Cary 4-2 in their previous matchup back in March. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Imps turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
