Softball Recap: Apollo Hawks vs. Sunnyslope Vikings

Apollo extended their losing streak to six on Friday, dropping their season record down to 3-15 in the process. They lost 17-1 to the Sunnyslope Vikings. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-2 back in March.

As for Sunnyslope, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-12 record this season. The result was nothing new for Sunnyslope, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.

For Sunnyslope's part, Bryn Daley looked comfortable as she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. What's more, Daley posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March.

On the hitting side, Sunnyslope got a massive performance out of Molly Nordstrom, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Nordstrom continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Miriam Boice, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

Apollo has already played their next matchup, a 14-4 win against Cesar Chavez on the 21st. As for Sunnyslope, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 17-1 victory against Anthem Prep on the 19th.
