Softball Game Preview: Pecatonica Indians vs. Stockton Blackhawks

The Pecatonica Indians will face off against the Stockton Blackhawks at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Pecatonica came up short against Amboy on Monday, falling 15-5. The Indians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Maren Davis was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. Davis was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

Davis wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ava Ackerman, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, Stockton had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They lost 14-7 to Pearl City on Monday.

Payton Goswick made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and one triple. Ireland Mensendike was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

Pecatonica now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Stockton, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
