Basketball Recap: Pawnee City Piles Up the Points Against Lewiston

Pawnee City won the last time they faced Lewiston and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Pawnee City Indians took their matchup with ease, bagging a 59-29 win over the Lewiston Tigers. Given the Indians' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 78th, while the Tigers are ranked 216th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Pawnee City had a senior duo take command as Anthony Kling went 7 of 15 on his way to 20 points along with seven rebounds and three steals and Jett Farwell almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards. Kling has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Drew Menninga, who posted ten points.

Pawnee City was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Payton Heideman, who put up 12 points and four steals. Everett Bohling was another key player, putting up ten points and four steals.

Pawnee City pushed their record up to 9-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.7 points per game. As for Lewiston, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season.

Pawnee City will take on Exeter-Milligan/Friend at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lewiston, they will face off against Sterling on Friday.
