Softball Recap: Helix Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Helix couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the Sage Creek Bobcats by a score of 3-1 on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Highlanders in their meetings with the Bobcats: they've now lost three in a row.

Katelyn Woodland was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Nikaylah Domingo made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Helix's defeat dropped their record down to 17-8. As for Sage Creek, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-11-1 record this season.

As of now, neither Helix nor Sage Creek have any future games scheduled.
