Recap: Blackville-Hilda Fighting Hawks vs. Wagener-Salley War Eagles
The Blackville-Hilda Fighting Hawks can finally bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They blew past Wagener-Salley 71-41 on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Blackville-Hilda has managed all season.
Blackville-Hilda was led to victory by Arkel Thomas and Messiah Mcfadden. Thomas scored 18 points along with four steals, while Mcfadden dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Thomas is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Darius Jenkins, who scored seven points.
Blackville-Hilda's win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-10. As for Wagener-Salley, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-15.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Blackville-Hilda won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Warhorses at 5:30 p.m. on January 27th. Barnwell is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak. As for Wagener-Salley, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Trojans at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Ridge Spring-Monetta focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Thursday.
