Baseball Recap: Western Victorious

Western never let their opponents score on Monday. They came out on top against the Gulf Coast Sharks by a score of 3-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.

Western got a great performance from Jimmy Huard as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Huard is becoming a predictor of the Wildcats' success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 4-2 (and 6-11 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Western's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kane McColgin, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. That's the most hits McColgin has posted since back in March of 2024.

Western's win bumped their record up to 10-13. As for Gulf Coast, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Western will welcome Coral Springs Charter at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gulf Coast, they will be playing at home against Bonita Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
