With a playoff win on the line, Providence Hall rose to the challenge on Thursday. They skirted past the Carbon Dinos 5-4. This was a revenge game for the Patriots: when they faced off against the Dinos back in April, they had to take a 10-4 loss.

Taycee Metts spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Hailey Lenz was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Alysa Marcek, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Providence Hall has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Carbon, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-16.

Providence Hall didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 6-2 loss against Richfield on the 8th. Carbon does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
