Basketball Recap: Macarthur Makes It 12 in a Row at Home

MacArthur had won 12 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they bumped up to 25-5 to make it 13. Everything went their way against the Southwest Legacy Titans as they made off with a 51-29 win. The Brahmas have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 16 contests by 22 points or more this season.

Leading MacArthur to victory were Ellie Lee and Saely Garcia. Lee dropped a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds, while Garcia shot 50% from the field on her way to 15 points in addition to five boards and five steals. The game was Lee's 17th in a row with at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja'Lia Clay, who posted three points along with seven boards and three steals.

As for Southwest Legacy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-17 record this season. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 647th, while MacArthur is ranked 142nd).

When it comes to explaining why Southwest Legacy lost, don't look at Garnelle Zor. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds. That was a full 51.7% of the Titans' points, marking the eighth time in a row Zor has earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was LaNiya Pollard, who put up seven points.
