Preview: Newcastle Dogies vs. Sundance Bulldogs
Newcastle is 9-1 against Sundance since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Newcastle Dogies will be playing in front of their home fans against the Sundance Bulldogs at 3:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Wyoming (Newcastle is ranked 30th, while Sundance is ranked 18th).
Last Saturday, everything came up roses for Newcastle at home against Arvada as the squad secured a 49-14 win. The win was just what Newcastle needed coming off of a 51-25 defeat in their prior game.
Newcastle relied on the efforts of Sydney Pederson, who scored 19 points along with 9 rebounds, and Delainey Dresen, who scored 11 points along with 6 steals and 5 rebounds. Dresen is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Adalyn Olson was another key contributor, scoring 5 points along with 7 rebounds.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought match, but Sundance had to settle for a 37-35 defeat against Upton on Saturday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Sundance in their matchups with Upton: they've now lost five in a row.
The losses dropped both teams to an identical 1-2.
Newcastle took their victory against Sundance in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 by a conclusive 58-36. Does Newcastle have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sundance turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
