            Baseball Recap: Herrin Tigers vs. Carterville Lions        
        
		
        
        
            Herrin had lost 17 straight on the road dating back to last season, but  on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 8-12 to make it 18. They fell  5-2 to the Carterville Lions. The Tigers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Lions earlier this season, when they won  5-4.
 Herrin saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Carter McCree, who  went 1-for-3 with one  run.  Kyrese Lukens also deserves some recognition as  he  got his first  hit of the season.
As for Carterville, the  win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-7. The  victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games.
On Carterville's side,  Haiden Lange spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered  just two earned runs on five hits.
 On the hitting side,  Drake Capie was  incredible,  going a perfect 3-for-3 with one  triple, one  stolen base,  and two  RBI. That's the most  hits  he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was  Logan Ingle, who  went 1-for-2 with one  stolen base and one  run.
 Looking ahead, Herrin will face off against Carbondale at 4:30  p.m.  on Friday. As for Carterville, they will take on Frankfort at 4:30  p.m.  on Wednesday.
