Basketball Game Preview: Mount Pleasant Tigers vs. Union Academy Cardinals

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Tigers challenge the Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Mount Pleasant will bounce into Tuesday's matchup after beating North Stanly, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Mount Pleasant came out on top against North Stanly by a score of 41-31 on Friday.

Meanwhile, Union Academy humbled South Stanly with a 69-17 victory. The Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 17 contests by 26 points or more this season.

The victory made it two in a row for Union Academy and bumps their season record up to 18-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 48 points. As for Mount Pleasant, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 13-9 record this season.

Mount Pleasant took a serious blow against Union Academy when the teams last played two weeks ago, falling 72-45. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Mount Pleasant was down 46-21.
