Basketball Recap: Alekzander Saldana Key Part of Team Effort in Mustangs Win

Fort Hancock won the last time they faced Marfa and things went their way on Saturday too. The Mustangs enjoyed a cozy 46-31 win over the Shorthorns. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.

Fort Hancock's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alekzander Saldana led the charge by shooting 56% from the field to rack up 12 points and five steals. Saldana is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least three every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Patrick Hernandez, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten rebounds.

Fort Hancock now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Marfa, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Fort Hancock and Marfa will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time the Mustangs see the court they'll take on Jesus Chapel at 6:30 p.m. on the 2nd. As for Marfa, their break will end when they face Van Horn at 11:45 a.m. on the 4th.
