Basketball Game Preview: Watervliet Cannoneers vs. Maple Hill Wildcats

The Watervliet Cannoneers will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against the Maple Hill Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Last Tuesday, everything went Watervliet's way against Chatham as Watervliet made off with a 60-34 victory. The Cannoneers pushed the score to 48-27 by the end of the third, a deficit the Panthers had little chance of recovering from.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Maple Hill's strategy against Coxsackie-Athens on Tuesday. Maple Hill blew past Coxsackie-Athens 54-33. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Wildcats have posted since February 6th.

Maple Hill pushed their record up to 2-0 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.8 points per game. As for Watervliet, the win made it two in a row for them and also bumps their season record up to 2-0.

Watervliet and Maple Hill were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in February, but Watervliet came up empty-handed after a 40-39 defeat. Can Watervliet avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
