Basketball Recap: Titus Boyd Key Part of a Team Effort in Warriors Win

Danville Christian Academy won the last time they faced Somerset and things went their way on Monday too. The Danville Christian Academy Warriors rang in the new year with a 49-36 victory over the Somerset Briar Jumpers. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 39th, while the Briar Jumpers are ranked 149th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Danville Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Titus Boyd, who posted 13 points along with six assists and five steals. Boyd has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times he's played. Leek Ateny was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 15 points and nine boards.

The win made it two in a row for Danville Christian Academy and bumps their season record up to 9-2. As for Somerset, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-6.

Danville Christian Academy will square off against Madison Southern at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Danville Christian Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.3 points per game this season. As for Somerset, they will head out to square off against Southwestern at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Southwestern's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
