Basketball Recap: Tuff Kelley's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mcclave over Yuma

After flying high against Idalia last Saturday, McClave came back down to earth. The Cardinals fell 59-54 to the Yuma Outlaws on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cardinals of the 60-42 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2024.

Several Cardinals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tuff Kelley, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and 16 rebounds. Kelley is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in each of the last 16 games he's played dating back to last season. Jr. Mungaray was another key player, putting up eight points and eight boards.

Brody Sheffield produced another solid performance dropping a double-double with 33 points and ten rebounds for Yuma. That makes it three consecutive games in which Sheffield has scored at least a third of the Outlaws' points. Another player making a difference was Alex Pensado, who posted ten points.

McClave's record is now 1-1. As for Yuma, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.

McClave wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 65-43 win against Fleming on the 13th. As for Yuma, they have also already played their next contest, a 69-58 victory against Sidney on the 13th.
