Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Holcomb

Holcomb won against Campbell last Tuesday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Hornets put the hurt on the Malden Green Wave with a sharp 11-1 win. The Hornets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by nine runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Jaxsten Pikey, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI and two doubles. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Sam Jacobs was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs.

The victory (which was Holcomb's third in a row) raised their record to 4-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Malden, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Coming up, Holcomb will square off against Portageville at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Malden, they will host Campbell at 2:00 p.m. on Monday.
