Baseball Recap: Fountain Valley Takes a Loss

Fountain Valley and Rancho Bernardo squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Fountain Valley had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Broncos by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Barons have suffered since April 18th.

This is the second loss in a row for Fountain Valley and nudges their season record down to 18-15. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Rancho Bernardo, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 19-13 record this season.

Fountain Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Rancho Bernardo, they will head out to face off against Eastlake at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Broncos 3.8, the Titans 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
